U.S. Congressman Refutes Another Harper Lie

Legislative District 4 Republicans held a regular monthly meeting on August
16, 2010.  U.S. Congressman Trent Franks was the guest speaker. The next
day, The Arizona Capitol Times reported that Sheriff Joe Arpaio withdrew his
support for State Senator Jack Harper.

Harper responded by accusing Senate candidate Scott Bundgaard and LD4 GOP
Chairman Lyle Tuttle of trying to “strong-arm” Franks into distancing
himself from Harper.  Harper further stated that Bundgaard and Tuttle tried
to speak with Franks at the district meeting before and after Franks
addressed the Republicans, but that it was clear Franks wanted nothing to do
with them.

Congressman Franks publicly refuted another Harper lie.  On August 19th, Franks told listeners of the Crossroads with Van radio show:

“I was told of something that occurred that I want to set the record
straight. They said Lyle Tuttle and Scott Bundgaard had approached me
recently at a Legislative District meeting and tried to dissuade me from
supporting Jack Harper and that is absolutely not true.  Lyle Tuttle & Scott
Bundgaard have never spoken a negative word to me about Jack of any kind,
ever.”

Franks added, “I hold Lyle Tuttle in the highest regard as well as Scott
Bundgaard.”

Harper continues to lie to us in order to win election to the Arizona House.
Any candidate this desperate cannot be trusted.  Now, Harper has dragged
Congressman Franks into his web of deceit in an attempt to deceive us
further.

Listen for yourself to Congressman Franks on Van’s show.  It is about 5
minutes into an interview with U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Hayworth.

Another Lobbyist Shakedown, brought to you by Crazy Jack Harper.
On this email shakedown, we see that Crazy Jack Harper was asking for money from the tobacco and booze industries, plastic surgeons, racing and Walmart.  Aren’t these the ‘evil’ industries Jack  always rails against?
Gosh, I wonder if there is a third Lobbyist Shakedown email from yet another lobbyist.  A fourth, maybe?

Welcome to Lobbyist Shakedown!  This is a game where I see how far I can push the ethical boundaries.  Where I can leap regulations in a single bound.  Where I can send an email to a lobbyist naming all of the clients of a lobbyist and then telling that lobbyist how much he needs to fork over from each client. Anyone can play this game with me! The contestants for this round of Lobbyist Shakedown are nurses, healthcare companies, banks, insurance companies, homebuilders and liquor companies.
Who’s next?  Who wants to play a round of Lobbyist Shakedown?  Anyone else?  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

“The Bible tells us not to charge usury when you loan money to people. Essentially these people are taking advantage of people.” - Sen. Ron Gould, a Republican from Lake Havasu City, explaining why he voted against a bill that would’ve allowed the payday loan industry to stay in business.

“Payday lending opponents say the industry preys on poor people in desperate situations. They say the industry depends on trapping some borrowers in a cycle of debt where they continually renew their loan because they can’t afford to pay it off while still covering their expenses.” BusinessWeek

Payday loan lobbyists made thousands in campaign contributions to Sen. Jack Harper, and then, suddenly, Harper sponsored their strike-everything bill to House Bill 2035.

I traded my vote to put the sales tax increase on the ballot. Wanna know what I got? In exchange for me being sorta kinda guaranteed a cut of 1,700 state jobs (most of which were vacant, already) and a cut of $1 MILLION from the Auto Theft Authority, I agreed to put a $1 BILLION sales tax increase on the ballot. What a steal!
